Recoverable clean condensate is a very valuable energy for steam producing enterprises. It is necessary to make sure that the condensate to be returned to the boiler room is clean. Perforation of a heat exchanger tube or plate means that the fluid to be heated mixes with the condensate. This causes the quality of the finished product to deteriorate and the returned condensate to be contaminated. Continuous control of condensate pollution means the protection of the boiler. Non-contaminated condensate means to maintain the quality of the product to be produced and to save energy. In case of any contamination, the controller sends a command to the valve to divert the condensate to the drain line and the dirty condensate is drained. In this way, the dirty condensate is prevented from returning to the condensate tank. When dirty condensate is detected, an acoustic or light alarm can be received and technical responsible can be informed.
If water inside boiler is not finished very well in spite of its preparation phase, density of insoluble materials (TDS) will be increased because of steam producing. It will cause harm to boiler and pipeline if determined limits is passed. These harms cause errors to equipment. Insoluble materials are dragged with steam and they can increase the conductibility of condensate and cause energy loss. The insoluble material-generally calcium and magnesium salts- consists during the steam producing and it is removed by some techniques for optimum TDS level. This operation is called BLOWDOWN.
An electrode (metallic rod or tube) is placed in a conductive liquid (e.g. water, acid, sewage & other aqueous solutions) at the point where switching is required. When the liquid touches or leaves the tip of the electrode, an electrical circuit between it and earth is completed. This causes a switch to operate in the control unit. This is a very simple, accurate and economical method of controlling levels in liquids and covers up to 70% of applications.
